Where does Boosel come from?

I am often asked where the name Boosel comes from, its history or what it means.

The short answer is we wanted an unusual name and to build the brand from scratch.

Having an IT and Technology background, I often spent a lot of time (and very occasionally still do) with Cisco products. Rumour has it, the company we know as Cisco today was to be incorporated San Francisco Systems Inc. However, the registration papers were torn en route to the treasury office and the name cisco Systems Inc was entered into the state registry. Cisco’s logo depicts the two towers of the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge.

According to Google’s official history, the search engine was originally called Backrub.

A new company trying to attract attention and having a name which doubles as a conversation starter, can be a useful point of entry. On the other hand; customers, partners and even search engines won’t immediately know what our company does. We could have named our company Boosel Consulting. However, having customers ask about our company name presents the opportunity to tell them Boosel’s story, what services we offer and why they should engage us.

boosel
North Frisian
Noun boosel m (plural boosler)

Boosel means table in North Frisian. North Frisian is a minority language of Germany, spoken by about 10,000 people and part of the Frisian language group. The Frisian languages are the closest living language group to the Anglic (or English) languages; the two groups make up the Anglo-Frisian languages group. North Frisian is protected as a minority language and has become an official language in the Nordfriesland district and on Heligoland Island.
